I was thinking the other day. A couple of my old friends I had emailed and one of them I even sent a birthday card to. So anyway,my question is...I have not heard a peep out of either one as far as to my emails. Now I know that we have let the years go by and lives have been busy, but in the age of Internet I can't understand why I have not gotten a response. They both are up on the social networks

Lost Friend
(fb and ms)and every once in a while I do get a comment here and there. But these emails I sent were more personal than just the hi,how are you and hows the family stuff. They where more of how much the friendship still matters and I'm sorry that time has gone by. So is it worth saying something to them in hopes it goes well and the friendship reconnects or should I take this as their way to respond back...that being no response and that they don't really care anymore and I should move on. Even if it was a friendship that seemed more like sisters than just friends.

I struggle with this also. Years go by and I don't hear anything from some "friends". At what point do I stop trying to keep the friendship alive when the attempts seem to be one sided?
I try to give people leeway cause I know that raising children, working, health issues-- basically life in general- can be time consuming, but they can't seem to send a quick email, a Christmas card, a message on facebook?!?
It gets tiring.
I agree. I give leeway because life is busy...but now that my father has been sick and have had family and friends pass. I just have come to realize that the people in my life are the most important thing. I just hope that the friends that are in my life now know how much I cherish them even the ones miles away. :)
